Medical Transportation Program
Unique to Red Cross chapters in our area is CNCC’s Medical Transportation Program. Our department was started in 1921 and has served the critical needs of hundreds of thousands of persons for 90 years! The department currently provides point-to-point car service to and from medical appointments for clients without ready access to transportation.
Many patients who need chemotherapy, dialysis and other critical medical help are elderly, alone, and unable to drive to their medical appointments. Without the help of the Red Cross, most would have gone without treatment.
A team of dedicated Red Cross volunteers uses our vehicles to transport patients in our community to and from their destinations for medical services.
During 2010-2011 alone, volunteer drivers provided more than 5,162 clients with 9,956 one-way trips to medical appointments, logging more than 114,966 miles.
