Disaster Training
To browse and register for classes in your area, follow these simple instructions:
1. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST
2. After you read these instructions, visit our national website (www.redcross.org)
3. Click on "Preparing and Getting Trained" at the top left hand corner
4. Under "Individuals Seeking Training" enter your zip code in the box
5. Click "Go"
6. In the “Radius (miles)”menu, choose how far you are willing to travel
7. In the "Select a Course Category" menu, choose "Disaster Response Training"
8. In the “Course Format" menu, choose the option that best meets your needs
9. In the "Date Range" menu, choose the days during which you want to take a class
10. Click "Find Courses"
11. You will be taken to the "Learning Catalog" website
12. Scroll down to see the courses being offered within that date range and within the radius of the zip code entered
13. To register for an course select “Register” or “Launch” (Dependent on type of course: instructor-led or online self-study)
14. You will be taken to the Log-In Screen. Enter your Username and Password or if this is your first time, click on “New Users”
15. Once logged in, proceed through the check-out process
Fees
All Red Cross chapters deliver disaster training courses at no charge to the participants. Red Cross may charge a fee to cover direct costs, such as meals, lodging for participants or instructors, printing, facilities and/or other expenses directly related to providing that training. At no time do these fees for disaster training generate revenue.
Logistics
All disaster training courses are offered at the Durham office of the American Red Cross unless otherwise noted.
All participants must arrive on-time. If unable to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time the instructor may not permit you to join the class.
Pets are not permitted.
Bringing infants, children or others not registered for the course is not permitted as it distracts and disrupts the learning environment.
